Meet the makeup addict

imageI spoke to makeup obsessive Jess Lee, and had a delve into her makeup box (yes, I said box, not bag) to see what goodies she uses and what her favourites are.

With a makeup box containing products adding up to a grand total of over £1,300, it’s not surprising she has a look for every occasion.

Only using branded products, Jess owns all four Urban Decay Naked Palletes, Urban Decay concealer and highlighter, Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation and Too Faced eyeshadow Palletes and contour kit. That is just to name a few.

I thought I had died and gone to heaven opening up her collection of all the best makeup, and I know you readers will be hugely envious of her extensive collection, or is it just too much?

I asked Jess a few questions to get a feel for her passion in makeup, and why she loves to splash the cash on her face.

Where did your interest in makeup come from?

“It started from wanting to try a MAC foundation as I thought it would suit my skin better with it being a popular and we’ll known brand.

“I wasn’t liking the foundations I was using at the time and wanted a change. After purchasing that and a couple of eye shadows it just carried on from there.”

This might be a tough one, but what is your all time favourite makeup brand? image

*Looks into makeup box puzzled*.

“I have too many to chose from, it’s probably going to have to be between MAC, Urban Decay and Too Faced, but I can’t chose.

“I always go to MAC for a lipstick, I’ve tried other brands but they were never the same.

“Friends always comment on the fact I own 18 MAC lipsticks, but I just love them so much, I could name every single colour I have. Honey Love and Velvet Teddy are my all time favourites.

“I used to love the Urban Decay Naked Palletes, hence why I have all four, but I seem to have gone off those.

” I moved on to their single shades, costing me a lot more in the long run but there is so much more variety and they are easier to replace once they have ran out.

image“Too Faced Chocolate Bar Pallete is my favourite at the moment, and I’m looking into buying the Chocolate Bar Bon Bon next.”

Speaking of what your buying next, what have you got in mind for your next makeup spree?

“Well… [Laughs] I’m currently looking at Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks and Tarte Cosmetics but I can’t decide.

“I currently have a wish list on QVC that comes to £100 and that’s only three items, I think I really am addicted.

“People wouldn’t even consider spending so much money on makeup but I honestly just love it.”

I’ve noticed how your skin looks effortlessly flawless, what foundations and products do you use to get this look?

“I use Benefit Pore-Fessional Primer, then apply Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.

“Next I contour with the Estée Lauder cream contour kit, applying it in the hollow of my cheeks.

“Finish with MAC Studio Fix Powder then define my features more with the Too Faced Cocoa Contour Kit.”

What is your inspiration for your makeup looks?

“I follow accounts on Instagram and Twitter such as Anastasia Beverly Hills, so I get a lot of ideas and new things to try from those.

“Mostly I like to experiment and create my own, it’s the best part of doing my makeup as I get to try out so many new looks I haven’t achieved before. It makes me feel more unique.”

With a makeup collection this big and an eyeshadow range to absolutely die for, it’s no wonder Jess won’t go anywhere not looking her best.

A day with Jess consists of makeup talk, showing how passionate she really is. It’s either: ‘Ooo have you seen these new lipsticks, I need one’, or ‘Just ordered four new Urban Decay eyeshadows, oops!’.

Thanks to Jess, I have also developed my own makeup collection and got some major inspiration from her products. She has introduced me to brands I haven’t even heard of before!

Not only does Jess love to do her makeup, she has a great talent. Especially with eyeshadows and contour. I had a scroll through her camera roll and came across a few looks that I personally love.
